Case of equine infectious anaemia in Belgium

A case of equine infection anaemia was diagnosed in a horse in Belgium on May 15, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has been told.

A senior agriculture official, Dr Pierre Naassens, reported that the animal was euthanised.

The disease has not been seen in Belgium since December, 2010.

Naasens said the source of the case, in Flemalle, Liege, was at this stage inconclusive.
