The city of Guadalajara in Mexico is to host the 2015 World Cup jumping and dressage finals, beating off competition from previous host Las Vegas.

Guadalajara  had previously bid for the 2014 World Cup finals, but withdrew its application.

The allocation was made at a meeting of the FEI Bureau at FEI Headquarters in Lausanne in Switzerland on Friday. A total of 23 continental championships up to 2015 were allocated at the meeting

FEI Secretary General Ingmar de Vos said the bids for the World Cup jumping and dressage finals from Las Vegas and Guadalajara were both very strong.

“We were extremely happy to see that the bid from Guadalajara was much improved since they withdrew their application for the 2014 edition.

“The FEI Bureau is also happy that the World Cup Finals will travel outside the traditional continents to Central America when it goes to Guadalajara in 2015,” de Vos said.

“We also had four very strong candidates for the FEI European Eventing Championships. After deliberation the Bureau allocated this Championship to Blair Castle (GB), which had also received the recommendation of the Eventing Committee.”
