Seraphim12 Foundation will partner with the New York Mets on “Hooves on First” Night, Monday September 10 at Citi Field, when the Mets host the Washington Nationals at 7.10 pm.
The fundraiser will raise awareness about the abuse, neglect and slaughter of America’s horses.
“Joey,” the life-size horse puppet from the Tony Award-winning play War Horse will be appearing pre-game on Mets Plaza.
In-game during the seventh-inning stretch, “Joey” and cast members from the Lincoln Center Theater production will perform “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
The production stated: “War Horse is thrilled to take part in the upcoming Hooves on First event at Citi Field and to support the Seraphim12 Foundation in their wonderful and important mission.”
Seraphim12 Foundation’s horse ambassador, Chip, will also be greeting fans pre-game near Mets Plaza. Chip often works with inner city and autistic children who have never seen or touched a horse before.
Rock icon, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, The Firm), who also resurrected Queen, will be singing the National Anthem. A devoted advocate for horses, 100% of the proceeds of Paul Rodgers’ latest release, With Our Love, which charted at No. 4 on rock radio, was earmarked to Seraphim12 Foundation and the UK-based Racehorse Sanctuary. These proceeds have already paid for the rescue and extended care for 5 abused horses.
Each ticket purchased through Mets.com/horse will raise money for Seraphim12 Foundation, supporting the advocacy for America’s horses. Fans buying tickets through this offer will receive a “Hooves on First” t-shirt.
David Katz, Board Member of the New York Mets and Seraphim12 Foundation, was fundamental in the creation of this awareness night. Said Seraphim12 Foundation’s Manda Kalimian, “This opportunity is beyond belief. David is so in tune with the importance of speaking for the horses who havehelped us build this country. Acting as one of their angels he has allowed us the opportunity to reach out to millions during the baseball season, which is an unbelievable gift.” Mr. Katz has also provided a luxury suite to the Seraphim12 Foundation for a pre-game benefit dinner and auction.
Jackie Martling will host the benefit dinner and auction. Radio personality, stand-up comedian, comedy writer, singer-songwriter & actor, Jackie Martling was a long-time cast member and head writer of one of the greatest radio dynasties of all time, The Howard Stern Show.
The featured speaker at the benefit dinner will be Shawn Jayroe, founder of RVR Horse Rescue in Riverview, FL, who rescued four Miniature horses in a case of neglect so severe that one horse died after ayear of starvation. An online petition by Seraphim12 Foundation demanding justice for these abused horses has accrued over 15,000 signatures to date.
