Preparations for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France in 2014 are ramping up, with four test events planned for next year and a further two in June of 2014.

Endurance’s test event will take place on August 16 at Sartilly, with driving from August 22 to 25 at Caen, and reining also at Caen, in association with the Parc des expositions, on October 20.

The dressage and cross-country phases of eventing will take place at Haras du Pin on August 16 and 17, and the final jumping phase on August 18, 2013, will be held at the main stadium – Stade Ornano – in Caen.

Jumping and dressage are planned for June 2014.

FEI Secretary General Ingmar De Vos said specific test events would not be held for vaulting and para equestrian, but “all technical aspects will be examined to ensure the competitions in all the disciplines meet the same level of excellence”.

“Haras du Pin is renowned for the quality of its infrastructure and the FEI is very pleased that a plan that meets all our requirements regarding the best possible conditions to ensure horse welfare has been agreed to,” De Vos said.
