A horse who ended up in her neighbour’s pool after a fence blew down in a storm in Spokane, Washington, had to be helped out of her predicament by rescuers.

Spokane Valley firefighters spent the morning making up steps to enable the 15-year-old mare to make a dignified retreat, after the mare refused to use the pool steps to get out.

The pool had been winterized and covered, and when she tore through the liner, she made a hole in the bottom of the pool. This helped drain out the water, as well as helping prevent Missy from getting too cold.

Missy’s owner¬†Jennie Delaney said she had only a few scratches around her face from the ordeal.
