Police horse and police dog punched in line of duty

The animal crimefighters with Florida’s Key West Police Department had a tough day on Wednesday.

News website Keysnet.com reports that in the early hours a 21-year-old man allegedly punched a 4-year-old police dog named Cyress in the head after being found in a building under suspicious circumstances.

That afternoon, a man, 28, is alleged to have punched police horse Smoke for no apparent reason.

The man approached Smoke and leaned against the animal. Smoke moved and the mounted officer saw the man punch the horse in the neck.

Both men were charged with misdemeanor battery on a law enforcement animal.

The Keysnet report can be found here.
