Twelve equine research projects get funding

laminitis-graysonResearch into stomach ulcer medication, salmonella, racehorse lameness and the spread of equine herpes virus-1 are among equine projects to be funded by the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation.

The foundation’s board of directors this week announced the approval of funding for 12 new projects. The 12 new regular projects are in addition to five projects now in their second year.

The 17 research projects are being underwritten by the foundation in 2013 for a total of $US874,024.

Funding for this latest research brings the foundation’s total since 1983 to $US19,953,183. It has funded 299 studies at 40 universities.
