FEI president Princess Haya has been appointed chair of the board of the new Dubai Equestrian Club.
It was among several royal decrees issued on Tuesday.
Princess Haya, the wife of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will have as her deputy Saeed bin Humaid Mattar Al Tayer. Board members will include Mulaih Lahej Al Busti and Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdel Aziz.
The role of the club, set up under the decree, will include setting standards and regulations for licensing equestrian facilities in the emirate.
The statement accompanying the decree said the club was set up to keep pace with the significant development Dubai was witnessing in the horse racing and equestrian sports, and to cater for the growing interest of the sport locally and internationally.
