The annual International Helmet Awareness Day is coming up next month, and organisers Riders4Helmets is seeking retailers from around the world to be part of the initiative.
It will be the third year the day has operated, and world-wide retailers will be offering discount deals on riding helmets on the day.
This year, 10 leading helmet manufacturers are taking part and more than 600 equestrian retailers world-wide are expected to be part of the initiative.
Participating manufacturers are Charles Owen, Samshield, KEP Italia, Troxel, GPA, Uvex, Champion, Tipperary, Ovation, and One K.
As well as providing discounts on the day, the initiative gives retailers the change to educate customers on the benefits of wearing a correctly fitting, secured, and certified helmet.
Riders4Helmets provides educational brochures and a CD to all retailers taking part in the day.
The Riders4Helmets campaign was founded as a result of Olympian Courtney King-Dye’s accident with the aim of educating equestrians on the benefits of wearing a properly fitting, secured and certified helmet.
King-Dye was seriously injured in a riding accident in 2010, and remained in a coma for a month following her accident. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and is still undergoing rehabilitation.
