One of China’s three biggest museums is hosting an exhibition to celebrate the Year of the Horse.

chinese-horseThe horse items on display in the Nanjing Museum span 1500 years, showing the history of the relationship between man and horse.

A highlight includes eight life-size horse paintings by Ignatius Sickeltart, who took the Chinese name Ai Qimeng and worked as a royal painter in the Qing Dynasty court.

It is said to be the first time they have been on public display.
