Arabian legend Desperado V dies at 28

Legendary US Arabian stallion Desperado V has died at the age of 28, breeder and owner Varian Arabians has reported.

Desperado V, who died on January 13, sired 904 foals, including many National Champions in both halter and performance.

He was a fourth-generation sire for the farm in Arroyo Grande, California, and lived his entire life at Varian, as did his sire Huckleberry Bey and grandsire Bay-El-Bey (by Bay Abi).

Desperado V was the leading sire in five of the AHRA stud books and he was a Sire of Significance.
