A fire relief fund for equestrians has been established in Victoria, Australia, following devastating bushfires in the state.
Equestrian Victoria (EV) has joined forces with Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria (HRCAV) and the Pony Club Association of Victoria (PCAV) to establish the Equestrian Victoria Fire Relief Fund.
The groups are working together to provide a coordinated approach of assistance, including donated funds or goods, and the volunteering of time to assist those affected with the rebuild of property or shared equestrian facilities.
Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (WPNEC), located at 170 K Road, Werribee, which hosts the Barastoc Horse of the Year Show this weekend, will be a collection point for donated goods.
Veterinarians have advised that bandages, skin creams, gauze wrapping, water buckets, lead ropes and headstalls are the most in-demand items. Goods can be delivered to WPNEC Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm.
The fund will also coordinate a volunteer effort in partnership with municipalities local to the affected areas, Mitchell Shire Council and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council
All offers of volunteer assistance should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
