Downton Abbey actor Hugh Bonneville took time out of filming to visit his horse Gothic at Sir Michael Stoute’s yard in Newmarket last week.

Part of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing’s Pretrushka Syndicate, Gothic won the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden Stakes in impressive style on only his second start last year and looks an exciting horse for the coming season. Gothic will make his seasonal debut at Sandown Park Racecourse on Friday, and at this stage also has an entry in the Investec Derby.

“For a rookie like me to be involved with two horses who have both won and one who has an entry in the Derby is very exciting,” Bonneville said.

“We will see how the season progresses, Gothic is going to run at Sandown and Sir Michael will take a view thereafter as to which avenues to go down.”
