This month the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) changes its name to World Animal Protection.
The organisation describes the name change as an evolution, bringing its name in line with its aim of protecting the world’s animals.
“Despite being one of the world’s leading animal welfare charities, globally only seven per cent of the general public are aware of us,” the organisation said.
“Through detailed research including engaging with some of our global supporters we arrived at the decision of our new brand name, which is an evolution of our current name. We have simply taken the elements that worked most strongly to clearly communicate who we are and what we do.”
The charity said its new name demonstrates “who we are and what we stand for in a clear and simple way. This will help people understand our goals and support us in transforming the lives of billions of animals around the world.”
The new name will start appearing from this month.
