Young eventer Tom Jackson has had his first three star win, taking out the Bishop Burton College u25 CCI3* at the weekend’s Bramham International Horse Trials.

Riding his parents and his own Waltham Fiddlers Find, the 21-year-old won with a five point margin over Germany’s rising star, Niklas Bschorer on Tom Tom Go 3.

Both riders lowered two poles but it left their placings unaltered after Saturday’s cross country. Hector Payne took third with eight faults riding Michael Payne’s Blue Moonshine after the overnight third placed rider Wills Oakden added 24 to his score.

“He wasn’t jumping his best but he tried his heart out,” Jackson said.

“The ground was holding and sticky but the ground guys have done all they can.  To win is overwhelming; I don’t think it’s sunk in yet – maybe it will on the long five hour drive home!”
