British firefighters are urging horse riders to stick to tracks after a 12-year-old mount had to be hauled from a bog.

Specialist animal rescue personnel were used by Hampshire Fire and Rescue to help the 12-year-old horse that became stuck while out on a ride.

A fire service spokesman said although the sun had been shining recently, many areas were still waterlogged from rainfall, so riders should be aware.

Crews successfully got the horse back on its feet and on to higher ground.
