Four of the six eventers Britain has named in its Alltech FEI World Equestrian squad are in line to get a hit-out at Aachen in the Nations Cup series.
Three of Britain’s WEG combinations are up for team selection for Aachen, from July 17 to 19. The World Equestrian Games start in France in late August. The team of four will be announced later.
The combinations are:
- Tina Cook, 43, and De Novo News
- William Fox-Pitt, 45, and Chilli Morning
- Zara Phillips, 33, and High Kingdom
- Izzy Taylor, 31, riding Orlando (her WEG horse is Allercombe Allie)
- Piggy French, 34 , and Jakata
Aachen is the fifth leg in the series, with the competition taking place during the World Equestrian Festival. After a third place finish at Houghton International, Great Britain currently lies in joint first place with France, on 27 points apiece, with New Zealand close behind in third. The fourth leg is under way this weekend in Strzegom, Poland.
World Class Eventing Performance Manager Yogi Breisner said: “We primarily use the CICO FEI Nations Cup Series to give riders experience of competing in a Team environment. The exception to this is Aachen CHIO which is always popular with our riders. This year we head to Aachen with five very experienced riders.
“We hope that we will be competitive at Aachen which is always a hard fought competition that takes place in one of equestrian’s iconic venues.”
