Britain has had its first casualty in the run up to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in France later this year, with the withdrawal of Izzy Taylor’s Allercombe Ellie from the eventing squad.

British Eventing announced in a brief statement that “due to a minor set-back during training, the horse will not be available for the Games.”

The nature of the setback suffered by the 11-year-old Jumbo mare was not revealed. BE also said an announcement regarding a replacement combination “will be made in due course”.

Allercombe Ellie is owned by Frances Carter and Susan Holroyd.

The squad named by BE last month also comprised Tina Cook (De Novo News), William Fox-Pitt (Chilli Morning), Pippa Funnell (Billy Beware), Zara Phillips (High Kingdom), and Oliver Townend (Black Tie II).
