Canada seeks CEO for WEG 2018 in Bromont

weg-bromontA CEO is being sought to run the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games, being hosted by Bromont in the Canadian province of Quebec.

A selection committee comprising three Equine Canada Board members and three members of the 2018 WEG Bid Committee announced the position on Monday.

The Bromont Games will be only the second time the prestigious WEG event has been held outside Europe since the first Games in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1990. The first non-European venue was Kentucky in 2010.

Bromont was selected by the FEI as the 2018 host city on June 9.

The CEO will support the Board and its mandate and will be accountable for ensuring that the Games operate within the policy and strategy framework established by the Board. The CEO will provide advice and counsel to the Board, in all matters impacting the 2018 WEG and will provide effective operational leadership to the management, staff and volunteers of the organization.

“We are searching for an exceptional candidate to lead, manage and organize this world-class event,” said Michael Gallagher, who has been a member of the bid committee since the initial stages and is currently on the CEO Selection Committee. “Our goal is to have the 2018 WEG be the best World Equestrian Games ever held.”

Applications close on July 28.
