Music festival provides “soundtrack for WEG”

weg-music-posterIt won’t just be horses at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, the musos have also hit town.

For eight nights during the Games, the Alltech Music Festival in the Games Village has “musical entertainment for all ages”, organisers say. And best of all, the festival is free to everyone holding an event ticket or a Games Village ticket (€5).

Starting from Sunday, August 24 from 7pm, an estimated 10,000 Games visitors will gather in the heart of the Games Village on Alltech Music Festival nights for live entertainment from a variety of international and local artists, including American Grammy Award winning R&B group Kool & The Gang, French songstress Joyce Jonathan, traditional Irish musician Sharon Shannon through to American singer songwriter Aloe Blacc.

“The Alltech Music Festival will offer musical entertainment for all ages,” said Catherine Keogh, Alltech chief marketing officer.

“When we embarked on the journey to sponsor the Games, we always viewed the Games as more than an equestrian event. The Games will be an event not just for equestrians but for horse lovers and non-equestrian enthusiasts alike. Alltech wished to work hand in hand with the Normandy Organising Committee to add value and enhance the Games experience for the 500,000 people coming from around the world, and of course from the local Normandy region.”

Dr Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, said the fact that the World Equestrian Games, like the Olympics, occur only every four years, “it’s cause for a celebration”.

“We’re looking forward to lighting up the Games Village through the Alltech Music Festival as we celebrate the power and passion of the world’s greatest equestrian event.”
